Hand Sewing Basics

Want to learn some needle skills? This class will show you the basic techniques and stitches for hand-sewing, so that you can sew without a machine and personalize items by adding decorations. Learn to thread a needle and knot thread, choose the appropriate stitch to use, and finish off your work. Practice your new skills by making your own novelty pin cushion to take home.

Class provides all of the supplies and tools you’ll need; you can also bring your own project.

For ages 16 to 106.

Unlock your child's creativity in our 4-week hand-sewing adventure! Designed for beginners ages 8-12, this series guides young makers step-by-step from threading their first needle to creating their very own stylish and functional projects.

Over four sessions, they'll build essential skills and take home three fantastic creations:

• Week 1 & 2 (Feb 17 & 24): Mushroom Pincushion & Small Pillow
  Master the basics of threading a needle, knotting thread, and the versatile running stitch. They’ll learn to stuff, gather fabric, and sew a charming mushroom, then apply their skills to design and assemble a soft, cuddly pillow.

• Week 3 & 4 (Mar 3 & 10): Reverse Appliqué Sweatshirt
  Level up by transforming a plain sweatshirt into wearable art! They'll learn to trace a design, layer fabrics, and use their running stitch to create a cool reverse-appliqué masterpiece they can wear with pride.

Perfect for fostering patience, fine motor skills, and a huge sense of accomplishment. All materials are provided. Let's stitch, stuff, and create!

Drag Story Time!

Join us for Drag Story Time with Harley Queen at New Tradition Co!

When: Sunday, Mar 8 | 12 PM – 2 PM (Reading starts at 12:30 PM)

Where: New Tradition Co, 5 Harris Ct Worcester, MA

Come for the stories, stay for the joy, and celebrate literacy, creativity, and community with us. It’s going to be a storybook afternoon! Crafting supplies for busy hands will be available.

Bonus: As always, we will have copies of the featured book for families to take home, fostering literacy and building home libraries for queer and allied families!

Have you always wanted to learn drag makeup? Join us for Looks By Lana! A comprehensive class by local drag queen Lana Backwards. She’ll teach you the basics from brow cover all the way to making your mug glitter-riffic!

Feel free to bring your own makeup supplies. We will have a limited selection of makeup on hand and free for use (clean brushes and applicators provided)

Sewing Machine 101 Ages 16+

Join for a fun and informative Sewing Machine 101 session, where you'll learn the basics and get stitching!

Want to start sewing? This class introduces you to the standard parts and basic functions of a sewing machine so that you can begin making your own projects. Learn how to operate the machine and select the proper needle and settings and gain familiarity with machine sewing. Make your own tote bag to take home!

Youth Justice & Arts Summit

Love Your Labels will be exhibiting! We will also be running a collaborative art workshop!

The Youth Justice and Arts Summit brings together youth, artists, and advocates throughout Greater Boston and Massachusetts to build community, uplift voices, and explore the intersection of art and activism.

Workshops will be led by youth, youth supporting staff, and professional teaching artists to engage young people in artmaking and advocacy, including Know Your Rights trainings and workshops around performing and visual arts.

The summit will conclude with a display of original youth artwork with themes of identity, justice, and community, and youth will have the opportunity to perform spoken word, music, dance, scenes, or storytelling in a performance art showcase.

This convening offers an opportunity for youth to strengthen their coalition of youth justice work, create individual organizing relationships, and share in artistic expression and celebration with their peers.

Join us for our ASL Meetup Group, a welcoming space for the Deaf Queer community and allies of all ASL levels! Whether you're a beginner looking for guidance or fluent and wanting to connect, this group is for you.

This meetup was inspired by three Deaf teens in the Love your Label Community, who will be helping facilitate the sessions. They wanted to create a space where the community can learn, practice, and support one another in a fun, inclusive environment.
