Get excited!! The Thicket is hosting a picnic for thick folks (a Thicknic) on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 12-4pm!
The Thicknic is a community-centered gathering celebrating size inclusivity, joy, and connection. We're excited to offer a large clothing swap as well as a market of pop-up vendors offering handmade, homemade and thoughtfully curated goods that align with The Thicket's values centering on creating a loving, safe space for bigger-bodied individuals.
This event is open to the public with FREE public parking at Wawecas Elementary School across Burncoat Street.
Attendees interested in participating with the clothing swap will be asked to pay sliding scale admission to the swap tent ($8-$15).
-Have no clothes to swap? That's okay, we will start the swap with piles that The Thicket has spent the last few months collecting! Simply pay your admission and come through.
-Have no room for more clothes? Anyone interested in simply dropping off clothes for the event is also welcome to do this, no charge. LIMIT 2 BAGS PER PERSON!
Rehome your plus-sized clothes with fellow plus-sized people!
Browse & buy from a variety of bigger-bodied vendors!
Meet & connect with size-inclusize business & organizations!

Kids' Sewcial Club at Love Your Labels
Kids' Sewcial Club at Love Your Labels
Sew fun, sew social! Kids 8-12 learn machine sewing basics & build skills in an affirming, inclusive community.
Kids' Sewcial Club at Love Your Labels
New Session May 5 - June 30
For ages 8–12 | Tuesdays, 4:30–6:00 PM
Designed for young makers ages 8–12, the Kids' Sewcial Club at Love Your Labels is a welcoming and affirming space where creativity meets skill-building. Led by experienced industry educators, this weekly club introduces students to the fundamentals of sewing machine operation, fabric handling, and construction techniques. Whether your child is picking up a needle for the first time or looking to build on existing knowledge, our progressive curriculum helps each student grow at their own pace.
The club meets every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, and families sign up in two-month sessions. Our first session runs May through June, giving students a solid foundation in machine sewing. Members will work through a structured yet playful project-based curriculum through hands-on projects, milestone achievements, and skill “level-ups.”
Beyond the technical skills, Kids' Sewcial Club prioritizes community. We believe every child deserves to create in a supportive, inclusive environment where mistakes are celebrated as learning opportunities and individuality is embraced. For students who discover a deeper passion for fashion and design, this club offers excellent preparation for joining our Threads Youth Fashion and Design Program where young designers can take their craft to the next level. Join us this spring and watch your child’s creativity and confidence sew their own path forward.
Have questions about this or future Sewcial Club sessions, please reach out to dani@loveyourlabels.org for details and inquiries.
